Venus represents the inner urge toward pleasure and what we consider pleasing and worthwhile (our values). It also represents the love nature and our ability to relate to others, since the way we determine what we value is by interacting with other people. Therefore hard aspects to Venus from Saturn will indicate restriction of pleasure and mistrust of relationships. These people are critical and demanding of themselves and others, and find it difficult to appreciate pleasure for its own sake. Their experience in relationships reaffirms this by promoting a cold and unforgiving attitude. This tension is rooted in the misconception that to indulge in pleasure and intimacy is to be weak, vulnerable, and to court failure and disrespect. The resolution to the square is to learn to appreciate pleasure and self-indulgence (in healthy measure) as a necessary and valuable part of life. These people need to appreciate that the experience of relating to others is an important means of developing their own value system, and that relationships are worthwhile regardless of whether they are "perfect" or enduring. By astrologically studying Venus in their chart, they should come to appreciate their values and their approach toward relationships. Instead of being constantly restricted, this side of themselves should be supported and guided by their Saturn (or authoritative) side, so that they can safely engage in relationships without becoming victimized or embarrassed.
