Signatures
Blumen, your contributions are awesome! Thanks so much for all that you have done. Unfortunately, we do not directly assign a signature or authorship on the article page. Since any article can be changed at any time by any other member, the Wiki way of assigning authorship is to look at the history list. Mediawiki does provide a way to list authors at the bottom of the article page (where the last modified date appears), but unfortunately there is a bug in that which deletes the original author, so we are not using it until it can be fixed. --StarAlchemist 04:43, 11 April 2006 (PDT)
Awesome work!
Thanks so much for all the work you have done! --StarAlchemist 09:56, 18 April 2006 (PDT)
- What she said :) --Frenchfisher 14:31, 18 April 2006 (PDT)
- you are welcome. I am having lots of fun contributing to the Wiki. Putting all my notes on the web contributes not only to sharing astrological knowledge: I am travelling too much and cannot bring my beloved notes and reference books with me....ah, these utilitarian virgoans!

North Node Interps
Way cool Node interps, Blumen :) be sure to put this:
InterpsHouseInterpsInterpsWarning__NOTOC__
at the top of the page so the page is instantly put in the right category :) --Frenchfisher 15:29, 29 April 2006 (PDT)
- Woah, I guess you're done already! Here, I'll fix the rest of the pages for you, assuming Linda doesn't first... --Frenchfisher 15:31, 29 April 2006 (PDT)
Thanks, I wanted to put all the interps in the right category, but I did not know how to create the template..........
--Blumen 15:38, 29 April 2006 (PDT)
I am working on the organization of the site (at a snail's pace unfortunately). I am slowly creating templates for each category such that the template contains the exact category the page is in (without parent categories) and also all appropriate headers and navigation bars. An example is Planet. When I am done you should be able to go to any category page and see the special template for that category listed, so that you know exactly what to put on that article to add it to the category (and navs and headers, etc.). In the meantime, don't worry about putting the headers in, I can do it for you. I might sometimes be a day or two late but I always go through all new articles and put in the appropriate headers. Thanks for all your wonderful contributions, and you too Frenchfisher! --StarAlchemist 18:36, 29 April 2006 (PDT)
Thanks StarAlchemist. I am slowly starting to understand how templates work. Later today I will create a new page using templates, and see what happens ; )

Congrats!
Welcome to the administration team! It's great to have you a part of it, what with all your excellent contributions and all! :) --Frenchfisher 09:12, 14 June 2006 (PDT)
- I second that :) --StarAlchemist 05:07, 15 June 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks a lot! I am feeling so flattered, really..... ; ). --Blumen 00:51, 16 June 2006 (PDT)
Sacred texts
Hi, I see you have put a great deal of material online, and it looks very interesting. There are two things that concern me. (1) none of these contain direct quotes that could infringe on copyright and (2) Can we group these together with some kind of template/menu and some headings that show them to be part of a set of ancient text descriptions. For example, "twins" could contain a lot of information only some of which might be your ancient references. Lots of good info though, thanks! --StarAlchemist 04:02, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
- Hello StarAlchemist,
The Tetrabiblos is in the public domain, according to both U.S. and EU copyright laws. I've checked the sacred texts archive[1] before starting to upload it, and on the website it is said that most of their texts can be freely distributed, provided a notice of attribution is left in all copies.
I thought of grouping them under an "ancient texts" template. It's only two books, the Tetrabiblos and a simplified version of Christian Astrology authored by Zadkiel. But it would be worthwile organizing them according to some criteria,
Cheers,
--Blumen 10:46, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
- I have created the Tetrabiblos category and template (containing category link, header and menus). Please see Template:Category templates for more details. I have also added the template to all the Tetrabiblos pages. I could not find the other text you mentioned on AstrologyNotes. --StarAlchemist 05:21, 19 July 2006 (PDT)
- Cool! I had to suddenly leave for Florence for a few days and saw the template last night. Thanks a lot! It is awesome! I am getting ready to change category to all the pages I have uploaded so far, and then create new ones. The other texts is not on AstrologyNotes yet as I am still formatting the pages.

- I am glad you like it. I noticed on some pages you added parent categories (for example, online texts and ancient texts on one that is already set with Tetrabiblos). This is not necessary, as Tetrabiblos is a child category of ancient texts, which is a child of online books. You can click on the link to any category on the bottom of the page to view its category page, which will have that category's parent category at the bottom. It is fine to add addl categories, but they should be only those that are not already included in the parent tree (see Wikipedia for all kinds of discussions on why this is preferred). The parent tree is also visible at Template:Category templates. It is better NOT to add any categories normall (as in , unless it is an additional category not the main one. Instead use the template (for example somecategory to add any appropriate headers, etc. (these can also be viewed at the link above). Again, if you add any category to a page (in the form ), these should ONLY be additional categories which are not in the parental tree of the article's main category (which should be added with the template). Thanks for all your efforts, it will be much easier for everyone if we use the category templates. --StarAlchemist 12:19, 19 July 2006 (PDT)
- Ok, this sounds quite complicated. I must play a bit with the pages to see if I've got how categories work. Such a typical Virgoan....... : )
--Blumen 15:02, 19 July 2006 (PDT)
- Sorry, it is supposed to be easier! Basically, whenever you make a new page you should be able to simply add one thing at the top to include the main category and all headers and menus that go with that category. For example, suppose I add a page for the planet Jupiter. I know this page should go in the category Planet (which can be found here: Category:Planet). I place the template Planet at the top of the article page for Jupiter, and this template puts the article in the Planet category (by inserting the link ), but it also inserts the header for the Planet category, and the menus associated with Planets. Note templates have double curly brackets, whereas categories by themselves are placed with regular wiki links.
- Now, since the Planet category is itself within the Point category, which is inside the Common Elements category, I would not add either of those two categories to my Jupiter page because that would be redundant, messy, and the category pages would be full of redundant links making it harder to find things. However, if I wanted to add an additional category called Benevolent points I could add that category by placing in the article source. Since the category Benevolent points does not already exist in the parent tree of the category Point, it is not included in the template and I need to add it. Unless I add an additional category, the only thing I need to put in my Jupiter page to put it in the right category is the template Planet.
- IMO, this is a good change which will make things much more clean, organized and easy to set up, once people get used to it. (1) The category pages will now be easier to read and no longer include both links to subcategories and the articles inside those subcategories, instead they will be neatly organized into links to subcategories and top level articles only. (2) Users who create articles no longer need to know what parent categories, navigation menus, lists or headers to put in them, this is all handled by the templates. (3) When any changes need to be made to the menus, links, headers, etc., this can all be seamlessly changed by simply changing the template associated with the category instead of editing all the individual pages. (4) The structure of the website becomes more uniform and easier for members to understand, making it easier to navigate, update and avoid lost or orphaned pages. Hope you like it! --StarAlchemist 17:08, 19 July 2006 (PDT)
