The trine is a third harmonic aspect in which the angle formed by division is 120°. When two points are in trine it means that from a geocentric position on earth, the two bodies appear to be exactly 1/3 of the way around the zodiac from each other. Three is a prime number which has the numerological significance of creative, interactive and lucky. Two planets or points that lie in trine unify their energies to produce pleasure and creative potential. Unlike the conjunction, the planets work together naturally rather than conforming to each other, creating virtually no stress. Two planets in trine share the same gender and element, but have different qualities. Trines containing a cardinal sign or angular houses may be more obvious. The trine is considered more powerful than a square. Trines are always pleasant and useful, but are sometimes used as a crutch to avoid conflict.
