The parallel has the same effect as a conjunction, and if it occurs at the same time as the conjunction it makes it much stronger. Often, it occurs before (or after) the conjunction, as if it were foreshadowing things to come (or lingering afterwards). Just as the parallel is hidden from viewing the sky, the effect may be unconscious, but nonetheless powerful. In this case the Moon, which represents feelings and needs, is energizing the North Node which represents the direction of evolutionary growth. Nodal activities take some effort but are usually highly rewarding. For example, if the North Node falls in the sixth house, the individual may feel the need to work, improve health or engage in some kind of service to others.
