Common Interpretation

The house of the Sun represents where we are most able to "shine" and where we long to assert ourselves in some outstanding fashion. An eighth house Sun is fascinated with dark mysteries of the soul and sexuality. Death, the occult, dependency, control (or lack thereof) and things shared with others are all areas of intense interest to the eighth house Sun person. Whereas the ninth house deals with morality and the higher mind, the eighth house deals with repressed issues and instinctual urges. Both houses, however, deal with spirituality and a connection to the unseen. Therefore, an eighth house Sun person definitely has an urge to be spiritual, but how they express that may be unusual compared to conventional morality. With the Sun in this house, we feel compelled to offend moral propriety in some way, and even in the dullest environment will find a way to encourage mystery and danger. We feel at home in the underground of the city or the mind. Whereas others might dress and act in gothic style on a whim, we are more subtle in appearance but more serious in action. Whether we become fascinated with the occult, or whether we just become expert at obtaining what we need from others, we will find a way to use hidden and primal knowledge to achieve our goals. This power might be used altruistically or selfishly, it is amoral in nature and the manner in which it is expressed depends on the inclinations of the individual. Surprisingly, eighth house people are not as creepy as it sounds. We can master the feral side of human nature better than most, as long as our nature (indicated by other astrological factors) have not caused us to repress and project our dark side. In that case, we may become perpetrators or victims of our own repressed issues.
