| The data was either collected by the state, using a birth certificate or the like, or was recorded by the family in something like a baby book or a family Bible.
| {{RoddenAA}}
| The data was quoted by a close associate of the person involved or by the person him or herself. It may be a part of family lore, or could be an indirect quote (example: I was 5 hours away from being the first person born in 1955 would mean the person was born on December 31, 1954, at about 7:00 PM)
| {{RoddenA}}
| The data is from a biography or an autobiography. That means a quote from the biography stated that a person was born at a certain time. However, artistic license could have been used, so the information may not always be reliable. Note that direct citations of a birth certificate give the data an AA rating.
| {{RoddenB}}
| The data, though it may be correct, has no direct citing. It could have been in a magazine or other publication with no source given or something vague ('quote', 'personal', etc.). Rectified data falls here, unless different times have been rectified.
| {{RoddenC}}
| Two or more unqualified quotes are given. The data is presented only to stop people from passing off one of the times given as 'the real time'.
| {{RoddenDD}}
| The birth time for this chart is unknown, but planetary positions from the data given may still be used.
| {{RoddenX}}
| The birth date is either unknown or disputed, but a chart given using the data may still be of interest if the person involved is either historic or famous.
