William Lilly gave the following rules to determine if the quesited is a virgin or not. While most people may not be interested in asking similar questions, Lilly recommended to be extremely careful when reading an horary about this or similar matters.

The significators used in this question are feminine planets. Some astrologers use them to judge horaries enquiring about men, even though in this case it would seem more reasonable to use Mars as one of the significators.

Indicators of chastity

1. The Lord of the Ascendant, Venus or the Moon in a fixed sign, and in aspect to the benefics.

2. The significators well dignified, casting a soft aspect to the benefics, and in reception with them.

3. The Moon applying a trine or sextile to Venus, in reception, even though neither the Moon nor Venus need to be dignified.

4. The Moon in Leo, not afflicted.

5. The angles in fixed signs, and the lord of the ascendant or the Moon in a moveable sign

6. The Moon in Aquarius, not casting a conjunction, a square or an opposition to Mars

7. The lord of the ascendant and the ascendant are fixed, while the Moon may be in a moveable sign

The quesited is not a virgin if most of the following indicators are present in the chart:

1. the significators are not fixed and in aspect to the malefics, or Mars is in an house of Venus without reception.

2. The Moon is in aspect to the Sun and Mars.

3. The ascendant is in a moveable or a cardinal sign

4. The lord of the ascendant or the Moon are not fixed

5. The Lord of the Ascendant is combust and in a moveable sign. In this case the querent was raped. The same applies if the Moon is rising and with Saturn
