Pluto in Capricorn: The Fall of the Predatory Lenders

The author of this article has requested it not be edited. Please do not edit it.

Pluto in Sagittarius over the last dozen or more years has led to a growing problem of predatory lending. The usually straightforward and generous sign of Sagittarius has been corrupted by poker faced Pluto during a dangerous gamble with the benefits and gains that are customarily associated with the sign and its ruler, Jupiter. The typically Sagittarian generosity, giving the world hope to access to good lives and better futures, was being driven by an underground Plutonian element. The concept of “giving” in this case had strings attached, and came with a high and unknown price. As we reached higher and higher, we were convinced the benefits from this large scale pyramid scheme would never end. Our governments gambled with our futures for years, looking for bigger and bigger yields and returns. As Pluto moves into pragmatic Capricorn, Capricorn wants to cash in its chips. And what we are getting in return is not what we had hoped for.

It’s not like we haven’t had warnings from “Pluto The Reformer” when it periodically shed its cover in recent times. Let’s step back a minute, and look at some of the previous warnings from Pluto. Pluto was roughly 3 degrees away from entering Capricorn when the first warning bells began to sound in 2006 about a spike in foreclosure rates in this country, but no one was listening. This was played down and pretty much ignored by the Sagittarian world wide media, as secretive Pluto continued to keep it a non-issue. However, by the beginning of 2007, the cat was out of the bag. Pluto, so close to stern and unforgiving Capricorn, was beginning to look for “payback”.

Pluto was little more than a degree away from entering Capricorn around March of 2007 when the first melamine contamination of pet foods by Chinese manufacturers was announced. Although investigations were slowed down somewhat while Pluto turned retrograde in April, indictments followed as Pluto turned direct and entered Capricorn in early 2008. Sure enough, heads rolled. Capricorn, like its ruler, Saturn, will always hold people accountable where there has been little or no oversight, and reckless ambition without regard for traditional values. Not only does this sign demand that you play by the rules, but it takes the idea of “play” out of the equation entirely, and leaves only the rules.

Before going retrograde into Sagittarius earlier this year, Pluto spent most of the first few months of 2008 in early Capricorn. Although Pluto does not officially reenter the sign until very late in November of this year, it has already made its presence known. Days after it went direct, conjuncting the Capricorn cusp once again recently in September, the repercussions were heard around the world. First an even bigger melamine scandal unfolded in China: Thousands upon thousands of babies were being poisoned by melamine added to infant formula by unscrupulous manufacturers. Officials who had previously promised oversight had instead attempted to get away with more criminal activity. However. When Pluto approaches Capricorn, houses of cards topple.

Next Pluto began to revisit financial issues in the United States. As many of us sat and wondered how such wide scale corruption could go unnoticed for so long, Pluto began to uncover the hidden decay of our own trusted Capricorn institutions. Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, thrives only on the respect of doing the right thing. Saturn and Capricorn are associated with the building of foundations, of banks, of finances and of character. However, the traditional values of Saturn and Capricorn have been going down the tubes for years. The corrupt Wall Street climbers, investors, financiers and lenders had gone way beyond Capricorn’s ladder climbing goals into some very unsafe territory. They were building without a sturdy and stable foundation. And what was going at the bottom was certain to crumble when the unsavory forces represented by Pluto decayed it further. A Capricorn structure cannot remain standing once the “termites” have eroded everything that held it together.

When the pretense caused by the hidden unsavory Plutonian element itself has gone on so long that everyone accepts the lie as truth, it is then time for Pluto to reform it all. A society build on credit and bad debt that masquerades as profit, on loans to keep up with the Joneses, and on predatory banks and lenders that insist that it’s okay to borrow what you cannot pay back, is a sitting duck for Pluto. Capricorn represents our ambitions, our goals, our ladders, our towers and our towering Wall Streets. But these cannot exist without certain values, standards, and practices, which are also Capricorn affiliated by nature, and ruled by Saturn.

The ‘90s were more of a time of hope, after the breakdown of outmoded governments as Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune had passed through Capricorn. It seemed to be a time of freedom and hope for many worldwide. With markets and media becoming more global, everyone’s existence began to become more multicultural. There was something for all, something for everyone, and everyone had a chance to purchase a piece of the pie. Uranus and Neptune approached Aquarius, as Pluto approached Sagittarius. A spirit of One World and Brotherly Love appeared to be developing, but it was not a healthy one. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter the Giver, and Pluto represented all that would corrupt this newfound generosity of spirit. We saw the potential of Sagittarius, but not the dark side that was hiding beneath this movement.

Pluto entered Sagittarius in 1995, effectively ending the “feel good” era of President Clinton in the United States, and allowing a Republican majority in Congress to gain control. This in itself would not seem to be linked to any underground Plutonian conspiracy, unless the impeachment process toward the end of Clinton’s second term was lobbyist driven. With Pluto in Sagittarius, this may very well have been the case. The corruption of Congress by lobbyists gained more momentum in Washington. The transit of Pluto indicated the emergence of further details of sex scandals that had dogged Clinton during the Pluto in Scorpio era and had continued up until that time. The Pluto transit held him accountable, as those who hungered for power held him responsible for the few crimes they could uncover. Clinton’s wife Hillary, a Pluto-ruled Scorpio, faced the music along with him when the time came. She believed there was a conspiracy to bring her husband down, and with Pluto as a factor, she may have been right.

There are those who believe that the government that followed Clinton was bought and paid for by lobbyists and oil, with a hidden Plutonian agenda. Even Enron was proven to be a Plutonian-style scam of unbelievable proportions, in which at one point those in charge actually created an energy shortage in the State of California. Following that example, the most corrupt of the big corporations found more and more ways to defraud the population of America, just as China’s corporations did to its own citizens. Will Pluto allow the current administration of Bush and Cheney to get away with its crimes? Although it may seem so, Pluto does not allow anyone to get away with anything in the end. Chinese “regulators” and overseers are being indicted, and will pay for their crimes. In their country, a death sentence is usually inevitable.

And as this House of Cards built upon lies continues to fall across the world, it is Pluto in Capricorn that is finally cashing in.
