The novile is a ninth harmonic aspect in which the angle formed by division is 40°. When two points are novile it means that from a geocentric position on earth, the two bodies appear to be 1/9 of the way around zodiac from each other. The number 9 is equal to 3x3 (a perfect square) and has the numerological significance of idealism, and both spiritual and material fulfillment. When activated, the novile indicates spiritual growth through social responsibility. Since it is also a third of a trine, it is both harmonious and lucky (with about 1/3 the strength of a trine). Two points that are novile are never in the same element or quality, but they may or may not be in the same gender. The novile is interesting because incompatible signs combine with absolute harmony, which reinforces the numerological meaning of nine as a number of integration of all three levels of being. It may be necessary to achieve some sort of integration of polarities in order to bring this energy out. Noviles containing a cardinal sign and/or angular house may be more obvious.
