Common Interpretation
Emotions and intuitions cannot fully come into play with this house placement of the Moon. Emotions may be very intense. In some cases the native may be attracted to, or actively engage in, masochism. This indication needs anyway to be supported by other factors. In most cases the native will feel the need to be in a very soft, romantic context to fully display to his sexuality.
If male, the native will be particularly attracted by sensual, vital and slightly exhibitionist women. If the Moon is afflicted, the native will have quite conventional views about women, and consider them mainly as child-bearers or objects of sexual pleasure. In the most extreme cases, female sexuality will be a source of income, and hence this placement may be present in the chart of all those who work in the sex industry, or in sectors which are related to turning the female body into a commodity: illustrators of erotic stories, pimps, directors of sensual or erotic movies, managers of "gentlemen's clubs", etc. Such an extreme interpretation needs however to be supported by a careful analysis of the sexual planets, namely Mars, Venus and Pluto and of the relevant houses in order to be reliable. In the best cases the native may simply be involved in a profession which relates to beauty, fashion and the female body.
If female, the native will be sensual in a clean, almost innocent way. Sometimes the native may be prone to excesses. If afflicted, childbearing and motherhood may constitute a cause of concern or anguish for her.
The native’s mother may be vital and vigorous, or employed in one of the professions ruled by the fifth house. If the Moon is afflicted, the relationship to one’s mother may be made tense by one or more of the different factors: the mother’s sexual excesses, amorality, unfaithfulness, or her lack of concern for her children. An analysis of this house placement of the Moon can yield information as to the native’s attitude towards motherhood and on her possible sterility. The native may be apprehensive and overprotective towards his children. His love for them may be exceptionally tender, and he may have a tendency to spoil them. All these indications need to be supported by the sign, house placement and aspects of Mercury and of the sexual planets regardless of their possible lack of aspects to the Moon.
Traumas witnessed in one’s childhood will be indicated by hard aspects and debilities of the Moon. Its good condition will on the other hand point to a serene childhood, which probably saw the child being at the center of his family’s care and attention.
In some cases this placement of the Moon can be found in the charts of pedagogues.
This placement of the Moon does not seem related to insomnia, nightmares or other sleep disturbances. The native may however enjoy sleeping during the day, or even in the full daylight. Dreams may be related to mundane events, or the native may have erotic dreams rather frequently.
If supported by other factors, a Moon in the fifth house opposite Neptune in the eleventh house (or in hard aspect to Neptune) may indicate neuroses.
