In ‘Hillary’s Choice’, written by Gail Sheehy, Hillary Rodham Clinton and her life were portrayed with a great deal of insight, as it delved into the issues that were to form her exceptionally strong persona. Not only did the book detail in chronological order the sequence of events that formed Hillary’s life, it explored many deep seated psychological issues that many have pondered over the years.
Hillary is a triple Scorpio, with her Sun, decan and dwad all posited in the sign. True to the characteristics of her zodiacal archetype, her character has gradually transformed over several decades. This is evidenced by her political alliances, who she has become acquainted with through the years. As a young person she held republican views but her life experiences helped her to gradually become more liberal, until she had to eventually call herself a democrat. In addition, her appearance and image have changed as she was forced to become more aware of how others perceived her. Although Hillary has always possessed a natural beauty, it was not until her husband became a political figure that she started to wear make-up and dress in an fashionable way. It was not, however, before Hillary had political aspirations of her own that she decided to take more drastic measures, as it has been rumoured that she may even have embarked upon some plastic surgery to achieve this. Hillary also has Venus, Mercury, the South Node and Fortuna in the sign of Scorpio. It is for this reason that Hillary is an intensely transformative person indeed.
Hillary’s Ascendant is placed in the anaretic 29th degree of Gemini, which indicates that she has a versatile personality. This is evidenced particularly by her superior debating skills, which were pronounced even as a young person in college, in her legal career, and then as a political wife helping her husband to win numerous elections. Because Hillary’s rising sign is in the anaretic degree, however, there is a strong tendency for her to exaggerate her intellectual capacity to the point of an inability to see certain situations clearly.
What is interesting to note is that Hillary’s Ascendant forms a square to her Moon, which is also in its anaretic degree, Hillary’s Moon is placed in the sign of Pisces, the decan of Scorpio and the dwad of Aquarius. The Piscean placement shows that Hillary has a great deal of compassion for others, and this is evidenced by the fact that she has always had an interest in helping children and the underclass that exists in our non-egalitarian world. The Aquarian dwad shows that Hillary is a friendly person. She is not, however, prone to superficial banter, which at times lowers the level of her popularity. The Scorpio decan further intensifies the depth to their character. While Hillary’s mother stressed to her that she must always keep her emotions on an even keep, there have been times when this has not been possible. While Hillary has been known to lash out verbally and physically at her husband when she could not ignore his straying any longer, she never blamed Bill for his actions, but the other women accomplices.
Hillary’s Ascendant forms a conjunction to Uranus, which is placed in her twelfth house of the unconscious. The Uranus placement indicates that throughout her life, she has needed to make some rather important choices with regard to how she would like her life path to proceed. Hillary no doubt faced a great deal of anxiety when she chose to support her husband’s political efforts instead of running for election in her own right.
The fact that Hillary’s Moon forms a square to her Ascendant/Uranus conjunction indicates that there could often be tension between how she really feels about an issue and how those sentiments are expressed to the world. It seems that at times Hillary can over-emphasise her convictions and thus achieve results that are to the contrary. This is evidenced by the Health Care reform that she worked so hard on, but was unable to push through congress.
Hillary’s Ascendant forms a sextile to the Mars/Pluto and Saturn conjunction, which shows that there will always be many opportunities for Hillary to grow and advance, especially in matters concerning love, children, pets and holidays.
The Mars/Pluto/Saturn conjunction forms a stellium, which shows that any Leo or third house activities will be of importance. From an early age, Hillary was centred around travel and education, as she went on school trips and was introduced to famous American leaders, such as Martin Luther King Jr.
The third house stellium does, however, form a square to Hillary’s Scorpio stellium, which indicates that there would be a great deal of tension surrounding her work.. Of note, Hillary met Vincent Foster when they both were doing pro bono work for the Legal Services Corporation. Foster brought Hillary into the Rose law firm and they became fast friends and litigators, successfully trying several cases together. Hillary was so impressed with Foster’s legal skills that he became the Clinton’s personal lawyer. When the Clintons went to Washington, Foster went with them, as he was appointed deputy to White House counsel, Bernard Nussbaum. Unfortunately, Foster suffered from clinical depression and when he went from looking after the affairs of the governor of a state to looking after the president of an entire nation, he soon realised that he was out of his depth. Because he adored Hillary and would do practically anything for her, he persevered despite his illness and took his own life in July 1993. Such as death of a friend and confidant is reminiscent of the Scorpio stellium in Hillary’s sixth house.
Jupiter in Sagittarius in the sixth house indicates that Hillary would make a lot of money through her work, and it was indeed she who was the breadwinner in the family because, even in America, public servants do not earn a great deal of money when compared to their civilian counterparts. In 1982 Hillary earned $56,744 with the Rose law firm, which was almost double her husband’s salary of $33,792 with a premier Little Rock law firm. Jupiter forming a trine to the Moon indicates what Hillary would work toward. She is a very idealistic person and has worked hard to bring health care reforms when Bill Clinton took office. Unfortunately, the reform bill was rejected by congress because it was said to be to complicated.
Hillary’s Part of Fortune forms a conjunction to her South Node, which can appear to be contradictory. The reason for this is because the Part of Fortune shows us what one must do, while the South Node indicates what we have done in previous incarnations and indicates that situations will arise to prevent the native from working or fulfilling many responsibilities. This scenario was especially prevalent when the Clintons’ reputation was tarnished by the Whitewater scandal and a great deal of money that Hillary had earned would go to pay their legal fees.
The nodal axis shows where Hillary needs to achieve a balance. Because her North Node is in the twelfth house of the unknown, Hillary has been able to accomplish much more when she has worked to achieve common goals in the background, such as helping her husband to win political elections. It is when Hillary goes about achieving goals in her own right that she encounters obstacles. What also needs to be stressed is the fact that Hillary would have loved to have had more than one child, as evidenced by her solar fifth house placement. Her health, unfortunately, prevented this because she was afflicted with endometriosis.
Hillary’s endometriosis must have been in the advanced stageas because in addition to all of the physical symptoms that resulted from the disorder, she was unable to have any more children. Her health problems, which are ruled by Scorpio and the South Node, reinforce this. Neptune placed in the fifth house indicates the sadness and disappointment that Hillary felt at not being able to have any more children.
The Sun/Moon midpoint is the karmic point in the chart and indicates where the masculine and feminine come together. Hillary’s Sun/Moon midpoint, in 15 degrees Capricorn is placed in her seventh house. This shows that Hillary is more herself when she is within the confines of a traditional relationship, and it is for that reason she stays in her marriage.
The Venus/Mars midpoint reflects how the sensuality and sexuality merge with the individual and what type of partner she should seek out to obtain unity with her physical well being. Hillary’s Venus/Mars midpoint is 0 degrees Libra in her fourth house, which indicates that a psycho/sexual relationship gives her the security that she needs in order to build a family, which is something that she desired.
Because Hillary is so politically and career oriented, particularly with regard to the aspirations that she has for her partner, Saturn and Venus need to be looked at in the chart. Because Saturn is in Leo in the third house, Hillary prefers the company of like-minded, serious individuals. During such debates, Hillary no doubt shows her passion for any subjects that she decides to pursue. With the passion undoubtedly comes a type of sexual tension that all who meet Hillary are likely to perceive. Mars and Pluto conjunct Saturn affirm this scenario. Venus forms a conjunct to Hillary’s Sun/Jupiter midpoint, which further illustrates her attractive qualities, especially when dealing with her colleagues. Because Saturn forms a conjunction to Hillary’s Venus/North Node midpoint, she has the ability to formulate her ideas and convey them in a highly professional manner. Saturn conjuncting the Neptune/Ascendant midpoint, which indicates that although Hillary has some very high ideals, they are tempered with common sense to help turn her dreams into reality.
Venus in Scorpio in the fifth house again shows the intensity and passion that is inherently a part of Hillary’s make up. Because Venus forms a square to Saturn, any romantic liaisons that she becomes involved in will not come without difficulties. Hillary had very high aspirations for any partner, and has been undoubtedly a source of tension and frustration, as she pushed her partners to do things that they may not have wanted to do. This inclination was probably instrumental in the break-up of her romance with her first love, David Rupurt, who did not have any political aspirations.
Hillary’s relationship with Bill was not without its difficulties, as has been well documented. Adding to an already tense environment, the configuration shows quite clearly that many of Bill’s dalliances with the opposite occurred right under her nose. All of this was revealed with great clarity when the world discovered that Bill carried on with a young female intern right in the oval office.
