In order to create an account to edit the Wiki, you must first create an account in the Forums. This is so that they can use the same password database. First, make sure cookies are enabled in your browser. Click on the Member Forum and then click 'Register'. Fill out the information and submit. Then log into the Wiki with the SAME login and password as you created in the Forum.
If you are worried about privacy you don't need to supply your real name but do supply a valid email address. It will not be used for any purpose other than informing you about the site and notifying you about your watched pages (if you have that option set in preferences). If you choose to allow mail from other users, they will be able to send email to your address through the Wiki but they won't be able to find out what the address is. You will also be able to have your password emailed to you in case you lose it.
When you log into the Wiki, check your preferences page (in Monobook skin this is a link at the very top right of the browser window). If you click the check box Remember me, you will not have to log in again when accessing AstrologyNotes from the same computer. Note that some firewall and ad-blocking software may interfere with the cookie that AstrologyNotes uses to keep a person logged in. If a user encounters problems remaining logged in, these programs may be a cause.
There are many things you can do with your own user space. You can change your viewing and editing preferences (see below). You can look at your personal discussions with other members (those who have written to your talk page) and you can view your past revisions and watched pages.
You have your own User page which you can fill with information about yourself, a picture or horoscope (you will need to upload them first through Special:Upload). You can showcase your AstrologyNotes projects here and create subpages and link to them. If you want to link to your user page within AstrologyNotes simply type [[User:Myname]] where "Myname" is your AstrologyNotes nickname.
You also have a User talk page. You can access this by clicking on the Talk link next to your username at the top right of the page. Other people may write messages in your user talk page by editing it, and you can respond.
If you appear to be able to log in, but as soon as you try to look at a page after the 'Log in successful' page you appear logged out again, it is very likely to be a cookie problem. If you are certain that cookies are enabled, make sure that you haven't inadvertently listed AstrologyNotes on a list of sites to never allow cookies for. (This feature is available in (at least) Mozilla Firebird (Firefox) 0.6 and above and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 and above). Also make sure your computer's date and time are set correctly; if they are not, cookies may expire before they are supposed to.
A user may occasionally find him/herself "automatically " logged out in between beginning an edit and saving it, or when switching between multiple AstrologyNotes pages open in multiple windows. This can be a result of your browser's cookie, cache, or firewall settings, but due to the nature of the AstrologyNotes software, some user ID information is stored in the servers; sometimes, especially during heavy server load, the system can "glitch" and your ID information will be misplaced, resulting in a logout. Regardless of the reason for the logout, the simplest solution to the problem is to check the Remember me box. If you do this on a computer that can be accessed by more than one person (i.e. at the library, at work, at school), please find and erase your user ID cookies after your editing session.
Click on the Preferences link at the top right of the page for various options, including: Under "User Data:
Under Edit:
Under time zone:
Under recent changes:
Under Search:
Under Miscellaneous
You can log out any time by clicking on the Log out link at the top right of the page.
It is considered bad to have more than one login name and edit pages under both names, this is called a "sockpuppet". Other users will not be able to track your revisions correctly. If you have problems with your current login just change the user data or contact the managing editor (there is a link on the main page). The accounts and the associated revision history cannot be deleted.
