This is an incomplete but growing list of fixed stars with their current apparent positions. To add more detail make a new article page and link it from the star's name. Note that the stars do not change position but due to precession they do appear to change their place in the zodiac, therefore a good ephemeris or astrology software is necessary to determine the exact zodiacal position at birth. Fixed stars have meaning in astrology due to their position in the sky and are said to "cast no rays", meaning that only natal conjunctions are considered meaningful (and perhaps parallels). However, some astrologers disagree with this view and consider other aspects as well as transits. Fixed stars lie outside of the ecliptic but those closest to the ecliptic and largest in magnitude are considered more powerful in influence. The orb to use in consideration is generally considered to be 1 degree (smaller for declinations), however certain stars such as Caput Algol, Sirius, Spica and the four Royal Stars (Aldebaran, Regulus, Antares and Fomalhaut) are sometimes given a larger orb due to the apparent strength of their affect.
