AstrologyNotes is a Web-based, free-content encyclopedia of astrological knowledge that is written collaboratively by volunteers. Our goal is to create a comprehensive and detailed source of astrological information, and to make it freely available to all students and practitioners. The information on AstrologyNotes is provided by people who are practicing astrologers, amateur enthusiasts, or simply helpful people with enough interest and time to do the research and write the articles. There are also members who do not wish to write articles themselves, but help out with suggestions and proof-reading the work of others. You can find out who the contributors to an article are by clicking on the History tab at the top of the article. There are thousands of pages on AstrologyNotes, so if you have any difficulty getting around we have provided a page of suggestions to get you started.
This site uses the MediaWiki software which is also used by the amazing online encyclopedia wikipedia.org. Wikis are maintained and edited by volunteers, and therefore are subject to frequent change by nearly anyone. Because of this inaccuracy can occur. However, the democratic wiki process has shown itself to produce quick results covering a wide range of viewpoints and opinions, with frequent peer review. In fact, the word "wiki" comes from the Hawaiian term wiki, meaning "quick," or "fast". The wiki format has enormous potential, particularly if the members adopt the site as their own and commit themselves to maintaining and protecting it. There are no requirements on who can post, however inappropriate or self-serving posts are likely to be changed or commented on by other members. Since much of astrology is based on individual interpretation rather than observable fact some of the opinions expressed may be subjective, biased or speculative. However, we do seek reliable sources for our articles, and it is hoped that over time the democratic wiki process will produce a polished compendium of knowledge which reflects a consensus of opinion. Volunteers work diligently to clean up, polish and organize the material posted so that everyone can benefit from this free resource. More help is needed, and we are always seeking more contributors.
If you would like to contribute to AstrologyNotes, it is free and easy! Editors need to register, but there is no ongoing commitment and you do not need to provide any personal information.
