Arc second

An arc second is 1/60th of an arc minute and 1/3600th of a degree. When mentioned as part of a statement of a zodiacal position, arc seconds are numbered from 0 to 59. The abbreviation for "arc second" is a double quote, ".

Arc seconds are also commonly referred to as "seconds", but the term arc second may be preferable in some cases in order to distinguish them from the unit of time by the name "second".

There are 1296000 different arc seconds which any chart factor could occupy. (60 arc seconds per arc minute * 60 arc minutes per degree * 360 degrees in a chart = 1296000).
