An arc minute is 1/60th of a degree. When mentioned as part of a statement of a zodiacal position, arc minutes are numbered from 0 to 59. The abbreviation for "arc minute" is a single quote, '.

Arc minutes are also commonly referred to as "minutes", but the term arc minute may be preferable in some cases in order to distinguish them from the unit of time by the name "minute".

Arc minutes themselves are divided into 60 segments called arc seconds, also numbered from 0 to 59.

There are 21600 different arc minutes which any chart factor could occupy. (60 arc minutes per degree * 360 degrees in a chart = 21600).
