The term Angle refers to one of 4 significant points in an astrological chart including the Ascendant (A.C.), the Descendant (D.C.), the Medium Coeli, or Midheaven (M.C.), and the Imum Coeli, or Nadir (I.C.), which are derived by the intersection of certain celestial planes. The Ascendant and Descendant are always exactly opposite each other and are derived from the intersection of the plane of the Ecliptic with the plane of the Horizon. Similarly, the Midheaven and Nadir are always exactly opposite each other on the ecliptic and are derived by the intersection of the Ecliptic and the Meridian. Collectively, the four angles form what is known as the Angular Cross, and in the most common house systems in use today, each one marks the beginning of an angular house (The A.C., I.C., D.C., and M.C. marking the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses, respectively) and at the same time divides the horoscope into quadrants.
